Australia’s Largest Decommissioning Project

Project Overview

Bhagwan, in joint venture agreement with Linch-Pin Enterprises Pty Ltd, was engaged to operate a Heavy Lift Vessel (HLV) to either remove and transport platforms to Chevron’s nominated shore base, or reef the platform structures in-situ, in accordance with the requirements of the Approved Decommissioning and Rehabilitation Plan (D&R Plan) and any associated permit(s).

Structures removed included:

  • 3 tripod platforms
  • 6 monopod platforms
  • Associated pipeline and subsea structures

Operation Methodology

  • Assets removed via oxyacetylene and diamond wire saw while loads were slung from the barge mounted crane
  • Loads placed on the deck of a transport cargo barge
  • Transport to final location on seabed or return to land for deconstruction and recycling
  • Following topside removal, pile and foundation removed similarly for reefing or recycling
  • Internal pile plugs cut using grit entrained water for removal and transport for disposalGrillages pre-fabricated and seafastened to deck of cargo barge to allow seafastening of decommissioned structures once landed
