Pioneering Ammonia Bunkering in the Pilbara

Project Overview

Bhagwan Marine supported world first two ship-to-ship ammonia transfers at the outer anchorage of Port of Dampier between the Green Pioneer, a 35,000 cbm ammonia carrier owned by Japanese shipping company Mitsui O.S.K. Lines (MOL), and Navigator Global, a 22,500 cbm ammonia carrier owned by UK-based shipowner and operator Navigator Gas.

The Coral Knight was critical to the operations transporting fenders, hoses and saddles, as well as emergency release couplings and the hydraulic power unit that operates them to the Green Pioneer.  The Coral Knight had a tow line to the Green Pioneer to weathervane and stabilize the vessel during Navigator Global’s approach.

Strict safety measures were implemented including emergency release couplings and nitrogen purging procedures.

Bhagwan’s main responsibilities during the 7 days project execution were HSE, marine management/coordination, crewing, victualling, bunkering, supply of vessels and equipment recovery and transfer.

During the project execution, Bhagwan Marine operated on a 24-hour schedule with 12 marine crew members.
