Remote Transhipment Made Reliable at Jessen River, Melville Island
Project Overview
Bhagwan Marine delivered dry bulk transhipment services at the Jessen River, Melville Island, handling one million tonnes of mineral sands annually. Operating in a remote tidal environment, Bhagwan developed a safe, low-cost solution using two tugs and two 180ft barges. Barges were loaded during flood tide and manoeuvred using a hipped-up configuration. Transhipment occurred 12nm offshore using vessel-mounted gear and was supported by three mooring locations.
